Hollywood Beach Proposal | Rachel + Nicole

Sometimes, it’s so incredible how small the world can be. I grew up in Maryland my entire life, frequently visiting my Grandparent’s farm in Damascus. Most of my favorite childhood memories were spent in that small town, where Tom & Rays Chicken was the place to pick up dinner, and the Jiffy Cone on the corner was the place to be on a Friday night. To my incredible surprise, one of the brides-to-be, Rachel, went to Damascus High School. We immediately bonded over our Maryland roots and mutual love for Harry Potter.

She told me the story of how she met Nicole. At a cozy Starbucks, in Finksburg, Maryland. It was the kind of meet-cute that you see in movies; everything just fell into place that day. Rachel wanted to make her proposal to Nicole just as special as Nicole had made hers. So she asked me to meet her at Hollywood beach, a place where they had made significant memories in their relationship.

Rachel and Nicole’s engagement day was a perfect reflection of their love for one another. The beach was serene. There were 5 people on it as far as the eye could see. the sound of the waves carried into the sand dunes and tall beach grass. My phone lit up, with a text from Rachel. I, of course, was sitting by in anticipation, with a book-in-hand, trying to be discreet. I gathered my things and started walking over to where Rachel was setting up her camera as a rouse to distract Nicole.

Another cool fact: Rachel is a professional photographer, too! So as she set up her tripod and camera on the beach, Nicole unsuspectingly turned her back towards me. I walked over and offered to press the shutter for them, and as they asked me to take one more, Rachel turned Nicole toward her and got down on one knee. Their family was all standing by to share in their happiness afterward!

Rachel + Nicole, I wish you all the best that love has to give. You two are clearly a wonderful match, and I hope to see you both again soon! Maybe in Maryland next time! 🙂
